Why teams back up Firebase
Firestore PITR alone is not a recovery plan
Cloud Firestore is reliable, but it doesn't ship with full backups on every plan. Native point-in-time recovery is limited to seven days on the Blaze plan and requires Google Cloud configuration; there is no UI to restore a single document or roll back a buggy migration.

Frequently asked questions about Firebase backups
Does Firestore have built-in backups?+
Firestore offers point-in-time recovery for up to 7 days on the Blaze plan and managed exports to Cloud Storage. Both restore the whole database, not individual documents. Backup247 adds document-level restore and longer retention.
What does Backup247 back up in Firebase?+
Every Firestore collection, sub-collection and document in the project, on the schedule you choose. Auth users, Cloud Storage objects and Realtime Database are on the roadmap.
How does the connection work?+
You generate a service account in Firebase, paste the JSON and Backup247 uses it through encrypted storage. The credential never leaves our EU infrastructure.
Can I restore a single Firestore document?+
Yes. Search by document ID or path, preview the change and click restore. The rest of the collection is untouched.
Is this the same as gcloud firestore export?+
We use the same Firestore Admin export API under the hood and add scheduling, encryption, retention, restore UI and audit logs on top.
Where are Firebase backups stored?+
Encrypted at rest in the EU (Frankfurt) by default, isolated from your Google Cloud project so a compromised project can't reach them.
